Reiki
The word Reiki is made up of two kanji characters in Japanese. “Rei” (pronounced ray) means universal, higher knowledge, or spiritual or God consciousness. Life energy is the most common meaning of “Ki” (pronounced key). Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation which promotes healing by working with the “ki” to help restore balance and flow to the energy system of the person. Since Reiki is spiritually guided life energy, it is always working in the best interest of the person receiving it. Reiki works well as a complementary energy to enhance the affects of other traditional and non-traditional healing methods. Another wonderful quality of the Reiki energy is the practitioner is not exhausted by giving a Reiki energy session. Reiki is a gentle yet strong energy and does not require any specific religious beliefs.
Reiki Sessions
Reiki sessions are available through Healing Journey Options. In contrast to massage, Reiki is a healing energy work done with the client fully clothed. Initially a health history is taken from the client and a release form is signed. Reiki works well in combination with other traditional and complimentary health methods and is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. The Reiki energy focuses on relaxing and promoting the health of the whole person – body, mind, and spirit.
I start each Reiki session with a prayer, emptying myself of distracting thoughts, asking my ego and personality to step aside, and allowing the Reiki energy to flow through me for the highest good of the person with whom I am working. A Reiki session involves light hands on touch or can also be done without touching the body. The energy flow may be felt in many different ways by the client and is frequently described as warm, pulsing, or tingling. Some clients become so relaxed they fall asleep during a session. I close with thanks for the relaxation and subsequent healing that have taken place.
Reiki sessions are by appointment only. Please contact Robin to schedule an appointment. Reiki sessions may also be given and received at a distance. The cost of an hour appointment is $60.

Reiki Classes
My usual teaching sites are in Bend, OR, Pullman, WA, and Bismarck, ND. Classes in other areas can be arranged with at least 8 students. Please contact Robin to discuss this possibility.
Learning to work with Reiki is something anyone can learn. Reiki classes are divided into four levels: Reiki I, Reiki II, Advanced Reiki Training (ART), and Reiki Master/Teacher. Classes are designed for adult learners. Classes for children are available on special request.
Reiki I & II classes are generally taught together as a weekend class. At the end of the first day the student is able to give Reiki to themselves, family and friends. The second day of class expands the student’s repertoire of uses for Reiki, including Japanese Reiki Techniques, and enhances their ability to do Reiki. Both days provide time for practice and questions are welcome. Each student will receive, “Reiki: The Healing Touch” manual by William Lee Rand.
Another option is to take Reiki I and wait to take Reiki II. This can allow you to become more familiar with the Reiki energy before deciding to proceed with more training.
Advanced Reiki Training (ART) is a one day course offered by itself or in combination with the two day Reiki Master/Teacher course. At the end of the three days the student will have experience with additional Reiki techniques and be able to pass Reiki on to future students, should they choose to teach. “Reiki Master Manual” including Advanced Reiki Training is provided to students. Each Reiki class taken strengthens your ability to do Reiki.

I am a Center Licensed Master Teacher for Reiki I & II with the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). By the end of 2010 I will also be a Center Licensed Master Teacher for Advanced Reiki Training (ART) and the Reiki Master levels. By the end of 2011 I plan to be licensed at the Karuna Reiki level as well. Why take Reiki classes from an ICRT licensed teacher?
The International Center for Reiki Training, Inc. (ICRT) has been offering training, and licensing master teachers for 20+ years. ICRT is internationally recognized for providing a well organized, thorough curriculum presented by professional teachers. All ICRT Licensed Reiki Master teachers have proven their dedication to their Reiki work through a comprehensive, 3+ year advanced training program. The advanced training begins only after the applicants have demonstrated that they have taken basic training in all levels of Reiki, that they are operating a Reiki practice, and have excellent references from clients, students, teachers and former employers.Should a student ever wish to make application to the ICRT Reiki Master Teacher Licensing Program, Reiki classes taught by Robin will have provided the necessary qualifications to do so. Also, as a Teacher Licensed by the ICRT I am able to offer continuing education contact hours to nurses, occupational therapists, massage therapists, and body workers.
Here is the logo for the ICRT. The Japanese kanji in the center of the logo means Reiki which is spiritually guided life energy. The upward pointing triangle represents humanity moving toward God. The downward pointing triangle represents God moving toward humanity. Because the two triangles are united, and balanced, they represent humanity and God working together in harmony. The inner sixteen petaled flower symbolizes the throat chakra or communication. The outer twelve petaled flower symbolizes the heart chakra or love. The complete logo for the International Center for Reiki Training represents Reiki uniting God and humanity in harmony through the communication of love.
